CREATIVE INTEGRATION
ART THERAPY

I believe that art is for everyone. Art making can support an integration of aspects of self for wholeness and healing. Art holds value in the process of creating, the resulting product or any range in between. Art therapy and counseling can provide a client an avenue to move forward towards building self-grown insight aided by an empathetic, nurturing therapeutic relationship.

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in a day treatment setting for children and teens, ran groups in residential setting for sexually exploited teens, worked in a clinic in two Portland public schools providing therapy to children throughout the school day and engaged in virtual telehealth sessions with children and families in clinic services during the pandemic.

During the pandemic I honed skills in virtual art therapy for ages 3-18 and play therapy with ages 3-10.

I have extensive experience with individual and family therapy with clients utilizing clinical counseling skills of a behavioral and psychodynamic nature depending on whether the client is needing to build skills or process an experience or both.

Aiding clients in the development of coping skills most often around emotional regulation, attention/focus, identification of trauma triggers with resulting reduction/ management of trauma symptoms and adaption of life skills for tasks of daily living.

Support pre-teens and teens in development of identity and self esteem. Additionally, when appropriate, working with family systems to increase positive communication and reduce conflict.

I utilize art therapy to support anxiety and/or depression management, increase or identify attachment, and tap into integrating unresolved experiences. I often use neuroscientific based art therapy techniques to support integration of self.

  • anxiety management/reduction

  • depression management/reduction

  • ADHD

  • trauma

  • play therapy for children

  • family system communication

  • increase personal identity

  • increase self esteem

  • identifying life goals

ABOUT ME

My Approach

I have a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Clinical Counseling from Marylhurst University. My major coursework involved a well-rounded education in both clinical diagnostic practice and art therapy methodology based from historic platforms and evidence based practice that stem from neuroscientific development.

My professional experience includes work at Morrison Child & Family Services for several years while earning my licenses. I am a Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC) and board certified art therapist (ATR-BC)

I specialize in working with children, teens and family systems.

Personally, I am an artist and animal lover. I create artwork to process my own experiences and engage in continuing to grow as a person on this adventure called life. I truly believe that art is for everyone and feel honored to live in a time where neuroscience and art are able to walk hand in hand.
